Shamsa | The Suzani Edit

Suzani—literally “needlework”—is the language of Central Asian textiles: sun medallions, pomegranates, tulips, and winding vines. In Shamsa, we translate those heirloom motifs into throws and cushion covers for modern rooms.

These pieces are not fully handmade. The embroidery is machine‑assisted and artisan‑guided, then hand‑finished where the fabric asks for it (hems, corner tacks, tassels). The result carries the look and texture we love about handwork—bold rosettes, trailing vines—paired with the durability and consistency of small‑batch production.

Mix them with solids, stripes, or your vintage finds. They bring pattern, history, and an easy layer of colour to the everyday.

Materials & making

• Embroidery inspired by traditional Suzani motifs (shamsa/sunburst, anor/pomegranate, gul/flower, vine scrolls)
• Machine‑assisted stitching with hand finishing
• Natural‑fiber base fabric (predominantly cotton) with embroidery thread
• Expect small, natural variations in stitch density and placement

• Gentle dry clean recommended (or spot clean)
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve color and stitch relief
